Poll Sneak Peek

I just tabulated this week's Top 10 Poll and it's consistent, for the most part, with last week.

The Top 3 remain the same: Amity-Woodbridge, Southington and Seymour and there is one newcomer this week.

Check out the complete poll in Monday's Register and tell us if you agree with the sportswriters and coaches who vote in the poll.

Send me a comment and tell me what you think.

Just Wondering. . .
How does a team lose two games and still stay in the top 10?

In regards to Mercy, the Top 10 team with two losses, they lost to No. 1 Amity and Cheshire, who is 7-1, and both teams are one of the best in the state. Plus, Mercy has loads of talent and I think still worthy of a Top 10 mention. They would likely beat several teams ranked above or below them.

I agree with you that both Amity and Cheshire, as well as,Mercy have loads of talented players, but there are many teams that do as well. I just think that the rankings should have more to do with numbers and not the history of the team. I guess we'll see now that both Amity and Cheshire lost this week. Just goes to show you that anything can happen in softball.

There will likely never be a way to accurately compose a top 10 list. Based on the different competition level in the various conferences, numbers can be very deceiving. #7 Mercy scrimmaged #4 Bristol Eastern early on and the outcome was not in the higher ranked teams favor. I think the voters do the best that can be expected taking everything into consideration. Teams can, and often do, loose to the lesser team. The true top ten will be decided in June.
